Glorifying and praising Allah: every dhikr, with a counter

Subhanallah, alhamdulillah, la ilaha illallah and Allahu akbar: short words of praise, each with how many times it is said and the hadith that gives its worth, such as Sahih Muslim 2695.

Tap the number under each dhikr every time you say it. It turns to “Done” at the count the book gives. 0 of 11 done today.

The 11 adhkar to say, in the book’s order

Subhanallahi wa bihamdih, a hundred times a day

Subhanallahi wa bihamdih.

The Prophet ﷺ said: Whoever says “Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Him” a hundred times in a day has his sins taken away, even if they are as much as the foam on the sea.

Hisn al-Muslim 254 · Sahih al-Bukhari 6405 · Sahih Muslim 2691

La ilaha illallahu wahdahu, ten times

The Prophet ﷺ said: Whoever says “There is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner; His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He has power over all things” ten times is like one who has freed four souls from the children of Isma‘il.

Hisn al-Muslim 255 · Sahih al-Bukhari 6404 · Sahih Muslim 2693

Subhanallahi wa bihamdih, subhanallahil-‘azim

Subhanallahi wa bihamdih, subhanallahil-‘azim.

The Prophet ﷺ said: Two words are light on the tongue, heavy on the scales and beloved to the Most Merciful: “Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Him; glory be to Allah, the Almighty.”

Hisn al-Muslim 256 · Sahih al-Bukhari 6406 · Sahih Muslim 2694

The Prophet ﷺ said: For me to say “Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest” is dearer to me than everything the sun rises over.

Hisn al-Muslim 257 · Sahih Muslim 2695

Subhanallah, a hundred times

Subhanallah.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Is any of you unable to earn a thousand good deeds every day?” One of those sitting with him asked: How can one of us earn a thousand good deeds? He said: “He says ‘Glory be to Allah’ a hundred times, and a thousand good deeds are written for him, or a thousand sins are wiped away.”

Hisn al-Muslim 258 · Sahih Muslim 2698

Subhanallahil-‘azimi wa bihamdih

Subhanallahil-‘azimi wa bihamdih.

Whoever says “Glory be to Allah the Almighty, and praise be to Him” has a palm tree planted for him in Paradise.

La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah

La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “O ‘Abdullah ibn Qays, shall I not tell you of one of the treasures of Paradise?” I said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “Say: There is no power and no strength except through Allah.”

Hisn al-Muslim 260 · Sahih al-Bukhari 6384 · Sahih Muslim 2704

The four words most beloved to Allah

The Prophet ﷺ said: Four words are the most beloved to Allah: “Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest.” It makes no difference which one you start with.

Words taught to a Bedouin

Allahummaghfir li, warhamni, wahdini, warzuqni.

A Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Teach me words to say. He said: “Say: There is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner. Allah is the Greatest, greatly. Much praise be to Allah. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. There is no power and no strength except through Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.” He said: These are for my Lord; what is for me? He said: “Say: O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me and provide for me.”

Hisn al-Muslim 262 · Sahih Muslim 2696

Allahummaghfir li warhamni wahdini wa ‘afini warzuqni

Allahummaghfir li, warhamni, wahdini, wa ‘afini, warzuqni.

When someone became Muslim, the Prophet ﷺ would teach him the prayer and then tell him to make dua with these words: “O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, keep me well and provide for me.”

Hisn al-Muslim 263 · Sahih Muslim 2697

The best dua and the best dhikr

Alhamdu lillah. La ilaha illallah.

The Prophet ﷺ said: The best dua is “Praise be to Allah”, and the best dhikr is “There is no god but Allah”.
